Gas Safety Week: a good prompt to get your renewals in order

Gas Safety Week is the annual campaign run by Gas Safe Register each September to raise awareness of gas safety. Whether you're a landlord or an engineer, it's a handy yearly prompt to stop and check that nothing has slipped.

A five-minute check

• Landlords: is every let property's gas safety record still in date? Anything due in the next couple of months, book now.
• Engineers: pull your list of customers due for renewal and get ahead of the calls.
• Everyone: make sure air vents aren't blocked and that any carbon monoxide alarms are working.

You can bring a check forward by up to two months, from 10 months after the last one, and keep your original renewal date, so an early nudge in September never makes your annual dates drift.
