Ideal Logic vs Logic Max vs Vogue Max: outputs, flow rates and warranty

How do the Logic, Logic Max and Vogue Max ranges compare?

The gap between the two Logic tiers is narrower than the badges suggest, and the step up to Vogue Max is wider than most customers expect. Every figure in the two tables below was read off Ideal Heating's current spec sheets and installation manuals on 6 September 2026, and the sources are listed at the foot of this page.

Two things in those tables are worth saying out loud to a customer. The Logic and Logic Max combis run off the same technical specification, so the Max premium buys the filter and eight extra years of parts and labour rather than a hotter tap or a different heat exchanger. And the Vogue Max is the only one of the three that gives you more heating output: its combis run to 32kW on the radiator circuit, where every Logic Max combi is capped at 24.2kW whichever badge is on the door.

On formats, Ideal currently lists the Logic as a combi and a system boiler. A Logic Heat still appears on Ideal's warranty table at 2 years, but it has no live product page, so an open-vented swap is realistically a Logic Max Heat job. There is no heat-only Vogue Max in the range at all, which catches people out on conversions.

Which models are in the Vogue Max and Logic Max combi ranges?

Three in each, plus the three standard Logic combis that carry the same numbers as the Logic Max. The outputs, flow rates, gas rates and GC appliance numbers below all come from the installation and servicing manual for that range, which is the document Ideal keeps current.

Ideal prints the GC number on the data plate and calls it the Benchmark number in the manual, so the two are the same figure. It is the identifier to trust when a badge has faded or a customer has repainted the cupboard. Gas rates are Ideal's own, calculated at a gross calorific value of 38.7 MJ/m3, so a meter reading on the day will not land exactly on them.

What is the flow rate of the Ideal Vogue Max 32?

13.1 litres a minute at a 35 degree temperature rise. That is Ideal's headline figure for the Vogue Max Combi 32, alongside a maximum hot water output of 32.0kW and a maximum heating output of 26.0kW at 70 degrees mean water temperature. The same manual quotes a specific rate of 15.3 litres a minute, which is a different test figure, so check which of the two a merchant listing is showing you before comparing it against another brand.

For context on either side of it, the Vogue Max Combi 26 gives 10.6 l/min and the 40 gives 16.4 l/min, while the largest Logic Max combi manages 14.5 l/min. A 35 degree rise on mains water at around 10 degrees puts the tap at roughly 45 degrees, which is a hot shower rather than a scalding one. Ideal quotes every combi in these ranges at that same rise, so the models above compare like for like. Where a listing shows a higher figure and names no rise, it is usually the specific rate, which runs 11.5 to 19.1 l/min across these nine boilers.

What gas rate should an Ideal Logic Max combi run at?

At maximum hot water demand, Ideal quotes 2.512 m3/h for the 24, 3.135 m3/h for the 30 and 3.657 m3/h for the 35. On central heating all three are the same, 2.512 m3/h, because the Logic Max combi's heating input is capped at 24.3kW net whichever output the customer bought. That is the figure people miss when they assume a 35 badge means a 35kW radiator circuit.

The Vogue Max behaves differently, because its heating side does scale with the badge. Central heating gas rates run 1.869, 2.695 and 3.314 m3/h for the 26, 32 and 40, and the hot water figures are 2.695, 3.314 and 4.150. All of these assume 38.7 MJ/m3 gross, so rate the appliance against the manual for the model in front of you and allow for the calorific value of the gas actually supplied.

Which Ideal boiler suits which home?

Size on the property's heat loss and its real hot water demand, not on the badge that came off the wall. A 35kW combi fitted where a 24kW would do costs the customer more up front and cycles harder in mild weather, and it will not fill a bath any faster if the incoming main cannot supply it.

What are Ideal's warranty conditions?

Registration within 30 days, a service every 12 months, and on the Max ranges the filter registered at the same time as the boiler. These are the standard terms Ideal published as at 6 September 2026, taken from its warranty page and its terms and conditions document. They have changed between generations, so read them again on the day you quote rather than repeating a number from memory.
